The first round of the Schwalbe Tyres sponsored Welsh Nation Mountain Bike series kicked off on the 28th April 2002 at Llandegla Forest. The course represented most of the features of a classic welsh course, the climatic conditions also represented the average welsh year, Sun Wind Rain and Snow. Although rider number remain down a good local field was supported by many travelling from South Wales. In addition the elite class saw two hopeful Commonwealth Games riders, Tim Davies riding for Wales and a frequent NWMBA visitor was joined by Nick Craig who was passing on his way home from holiday on the welsh coast. Nick has always enjoyed NWMBA course and gained a National Champions jersey at our Nannerch Venue. Jamie Norfolk and Amy Hunt of the Helly Hansen / Giant team were amongst the many talented riders who came to win In the Elite race a heavy shower of snow made riding conditions difficult and Nick was able to post the win |
