Round 4 WCU Dragon XC Series 24 Sept 2006

Firstly a big thanks to our club sponsors Tilhill UPM for the use of their forest at Coed Llandegla to hold the event. Our partnership with this company goes back many years and we remain grateful for the support of this division of UPM Kymmenne. Also our thanks go to One Planet Adventure who run the visitor centre and on the day assisted feed our marshals, produce race number boards, course marking materials as well as helping mark the courses. OPA also assisted in convincing a number of their suppliers to help with prizes the trumps being the local company Fibrax who are famed for their braking components and gear cables. With nearly £750 in vouchers to spend on Fibrax products in the centre shop as well as a free goody bag for every rider with brake cable and disk cleaning pad their help was crucial to our running the event as were Silverfish and Paligap who are famous for importing a number of top bike ranges and components.

Trev one of our marshals was out on the day with his digital slr and has posted some great photographs on his adhoconline photo gallery web site where if you are particuarly pleased with what he took of you, for a very reasonable price he will you a quality copy. We were unable to get time to write a review but a cheeky courtesy of mtbwales.co.uk was this rather glowing post race response posted to our press release about the event from Iwan Rhys who was third in the Sport Class

"that was easily the best race, venue and prizes of the series.The course had everything, testing climbs,good technical singletrack, super fast decents and the part i liked the most was the finish area by the bridge where you went over it then under and up then down to the start line, awsome!! I really liked the fact you had riders around you all the time but on different parts of the course.That really kept the feeling that you are in a race all the time.I've talked to some guys that tried mtb racing and get dropped on the first climb and they dont see a soul then for the whole race until they get lapped, it's always better to have people around you.A Very BIG shout out to the course designers and the event organisers.The prizes were AWSOME, and the spot prize raffle was a big plus and that everyone had the fibrax goody bag.Marshaling was brilliant plenty of them(thanks every one) and the podium and presentation ceremony at the end was really good, like a party atmos.Thank you for a great day.
